Before Kate...

Everyone knows Princess Diana is a fashion icon, and with the recent 15th anniversary of her tragic death, we decided it was only appropriate to visit the site where the People's Princess was lost. We walked a couple of blocks across the Seine to the Flame of Liberty, situated above the exit to the tunnel where Princess Diana died. To celebrate her life, we present to you our favorite Princess Diana looks.

Très chic and scandalous for a princess. We approve.

Princess Diana married Prince Charles in a fairy tale wedding that will go down in history. In 1981 this dress was the epitome of a gown fit for a princess (ruffles, bows, shoulder poufs included) but I'm glad Kate forged her own path and donned her unforgettable dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen with only a 9 foot train compared to Diana's 25 foot extravaganza.

We love the classic, nautical feel of this outfit.

Simply stunning in a black strapless gown.

The Flame of Liberty: an exact replica of the Statue of Liberty’s flame and a symbol of the Franco-American friendship.  While the statue predates Princess Diana’s death, tourists have converted the statue into a memorial dedicated to the princess.
